Meet Dr. Hansen
Being a general dentist, to me, means I must always look out for my patients’ best interests.
I work very hard to education patients on their oral health and any issues we find. Not only am I passionate about dentistry, but also about each patient’s experience in our office. It is my commitment to see that every patient finishes a visit feeling happier, healthier, and more knowledgeable about their oral health.
At Hillsboro Dental Center, we strive to provide excellent care and really listen to the needs of our patients. I am proud to work alongside Dr. Roberts and this team, and look forward to meeting you.
Dr. Cheryl Hansen
Education and Experience
Prior to dental school, Dr. Hansen completed her:
- Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at New Mexico State University
- Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at New Mexico State University
After college, she worked in Phase 1 pharmaceutical research for five years. That experience taught her the importance of having strong scientific evidence and support for decisions. At the same time, she found herself wanting a more intimate connection with people’s lives and, more specifically, with their health.
Dr. Hansen decided to pursue a career in dentistry, returned to school, and was awarded her:
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio
- Certificate in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at the University of California at Los Angeles
She has practiced for several years and appreciates the opportunity to have a lasting and positive impact on each patient’s health and quality of life.
Continuing Education and Professional Affiliations
Dr. Hansen is a lifelong learner, seeking out opportunities to study the latest developments in dentistry. Through the Tucker Gold Study Club (2017-2019) and Spear Study Club, she participates in monthly meetings with local specialists and general dentists. During these meetings, the dentists and oral health specialists review cases and have in-depth conversations with multidisciplinary viewpoints.
Additionally, Dr. Hansen is an active member of the:
- American Dental Association
- Oregon Dental Association
- Washington County Dental Society
Through these organizations, she has access to emerging research, technological advancements, and new methodologies. This allows her to provide patients with evidence-based care for the ideal treatment and predictable, stable results.
Beyond the Office
A Portland native, Dr. Hansen returned to the area after finishing dental school and her AEGD Certificate. She now lives in Tigard with her two beautiful daughters and her very loving and supportive husband.
Time with family is Dr. Hansen’s priority when not seeing patients. She also enjoys hiking, running, and swimming, as well as baking and cooking.
